The Building Blocks for Social Development

Developing friendships and being able to share experiences with others is critical to our well-being. Children with autism exhibit difficulty displaying age-appropriate social norms. By fostering and practicing these skills in a safe environment with a small group of their peers, your child will learn to be increasingly confident with maneuvering around their social sphere. Autism Learning Collaborative works with children ages 6-13 to learn important, foundational social skills to build these relationships. Schedule your free tour today!

What to Expect with Social Skills Therapy

A Safe, Monitored Environment to Build Critical Social Skills

ALC's group social skills sessions provide a welcoming, clinician-guided space for your child to learn important building blocks to interact, build friendships, participate in group activities, and learn what it's like to be a part of a team or class setting.

It Gets Easier with Practice!

While continuing to flex and strengthen social skills at home are important, social skills groups provides a real-life setting in which your child will meet other children their age. We introduce and refine skills, such as making conversation, turn taking, compromising, cooperation, and more.

Give Your Child the Confidence They Need to Succeed

Providing an environment that allows your child to practice these social skills with other children will instill confidence. Building social skills can be challenging, which makes participating in group activities all the more important to give your child the confidence they need to succeed!

Why Sign Your Child up for Our Social Skills Group?

Does your child often experience conflicts on play dates and other social situations? Do you notice that they're nervous around peers or have trouble joining in on games and other group activities?

Navigating and learning how to be successful in social situations can cause difficulties for anyone, especially for children with autism. Luckily, social skills therapy services can help.

ALC's social skills group provides the additional support your child needs to overcome many common social challenges. While our social group will help your child gain the skills to communicate with others, we can also help increase their overall quality of life and help them develop meaningful relationships with others. Our safe and supportive environment will provide an optimal space for your child to practice and develop social skills.

Benefits of Our Social Skills Group

At ALC, our Board Certified Behavior Analysts will identify the social skills your child may be struggling with and work with them to master these skills in our social group.

When children participate in our social skills training group therapy, they gain the opportunity to learn from each other through observing different social situations and how other children react. Additional benefits of our social skill group include:

Increase Social Communications

Our Board-Certified Behavior Analysts will help your child gain skills such as starting and continuing conversations, understanding body language and showing empathy. Many children also make friends with their peers within the social play group for autism and see them outside of sessions.

Develop Problem-Solving Skills

Our group settings will help your child gain the skills to solve conflicts together. Some ABA therapy social skills your child may work on include voting, compromising and planning.

Build Self-Confidence

Attending our social skills group gives your child a sense of belonging as they interact with peers and create long-term friendships. This acceptance, coupled with positive reinforcements, helps them build their self-confidence.

Safe Space

Children learn, play and improve their social skills through therapist-developed activities in a secure environment. Our therapists will also monitor the group and ensure every child is safe, physically and emotionally.

Fun for Everyone

Social skills group therapy is a fun way for your child to build self-confidence as they interact with peers. Our therapists often use games, role-playing and other fun activities to keep your child engaged and excited with every session.
